Major Announcement – This. Is. Our. Last. Contest.

As some of you know, we have been proudly presenting contests since 2009 with our start at San-Japan 2.x. Since then we have presented for Ikkicon, Brony Fan Fair, Texas Furry Fiesta & of course Oni-Con. In total we have presented 20 Contests in 10 years, Oni-Con XVI (2019) being 21.

That being said, Oni-Con XVI (2019) will be our LAST AMV Contest we will present.

This desision did not come easy for us, but this desision has been thrown around each year prior at how we will end our long run of presenting AMV Contests. We belive now is the best time.

Bear in mind that AnimeFunTV itself is NOT ending, only presenting AMV Contests for conventions is ending.

We have met some incredible people and seen some outstanding music videos during our time presenting contests for conventions. We want to make Oni-Con XVI (2019) our best show going out but we can’t do it with out your support, so hurry and submit your videos!

We were also granted an extended time for our show at Oni-Con so we will announce some special things soon.

We’d like to thank the Oni-Con staff who have been very helpful and supportive to us, all those who helped past and present; to all the attendees who watch the shows and lastly all the people who have submitted to our contests both past and present. We apprecate eveyone.

Watch AnimeFunTV via Public Access Online!

Thats right, after several years, The City of San Antonio now provides a free live streaming of its Public Access Channel.

Not only can you watch AFTV on Thursday & Saturday nights at 11:00pm, but also watch all the other shows on Public Access as well.

Oni-Con XVI (2019) – Anime vs. Animation Music Video Contest 2.0 – Now Accepting Submissions!

First off, we’d like to thank Oni-Con for having us back to host this years AMV Contest! Oni-Con will be held once again in Galveston, TX at the Galveston Island Convention Center on November 8th – November 10th, 2019

This marks 7 years we have been proudly hosting Oni-Con’s AMV Contest and we will continue what we started last year, Anime vs. Animation, Version 2.0!

This our second year that puts both Anime and Animations together, head-to-head. This allows you, the creators, not only to create more videos, but to create music videos from not only Anime but all styles & types of animations from around the world! From old-school cartoons, current animations, animated movies, machinima videos, even self-created animations. This contest lets your imagination run wild!

Like last year, we have 3 Main Titles to choose from. 

  • Anime – A Music video that is solely Anime.
  • Animation – A Music video that is non-Anime.
  • Truce – A Music video with a mix of both Anime and Animations.

Every Main Title will have 3 Categories to define your submission

  • Action
  • Drama
  • Comedy

You can submit 1 video to each Category for every Main Title.

ALL Video Submissions are due by
 Friday, October 11th, 2019 @ 12:00p.m. (Noon) U.S. Central Time

As usual we recommend reading the Rules & Guidelines before submitting

Oni-Con XV (2018) – ‘Anime vs. The World (of Animation)’ Music Video Contest – Finalists Announced!

First off, a big, and I mean BIG thank you to all participants in the contest!

We had more submissions this year which always makes it though to score and sort out who will make it into the show.

While this isn’t the first time we’ve opened this contest for ‘non-anime’ animations, this year proved to be more of a learning curve due to the fact we made a separate ‘non-anime’ category.

Our show is limited to 2 hours and to select a combination of both anime and ‘non-anime’ submissions meant we had to downsize from our previous ‘Top 10’ of years prior, to ‘Top 5’ in each category.

Doing so still allows us to fill the show with the correct amount of videos, however it pains us because there are also some great videos in the lower half of the ‘Top 10’.

Next year will request to have our show time extended from 2 hours, to 2 hours and 30min’s (or maybe even 3 hours) to showcase more videos and return to the ‘Top 10’ for each category, plus judging by the amount of ‘non-anime’ submissions we received this year we can expect it to increase as more other events are allowing for those kinds of submissions as well.
