First off, we’d like to thank Oni-Con for having us back to host this years AMV Contest! Oni-Con will be held once again in Galveston, TX at the Galveston Island Convention Center on November 8th – November 10th, 2019
This marks 7 years we have been proudly hosting Oni-Con’s AMV Contest and we will continue what we started last year, Anime vs. Animation, Version 2.0!
This our second year that puts both Anime and Animations together, head-to-head. This allows you, the creators, not only to create more videos, but to create music videos from not only Anime but all styles & types of animations from around the world! From old-school cartoons, current animations, animated movies, machinima videos, even self-created animations. This contest lets your imagination run wild!
Like last year, we have 3Main Titles to choose from.
Anime – A Music video that is solely Anime.
Animation – A Music video that is non-Anime.
Truce – A Music video with a mix of both Anime and Animations.
Every Main Title will have 3 Categories to define your submission

Drama
Comedy
You can submit 1 video to each Category for every Main Title.

First off, a big, and I mean BIG thank you to all participants in the contest!
We had more submissions this year which always makes it though to score and sort out who will make it into the show.
While this isn’t the first time we’ve opened this contest for ‘non-anime’ animations, this year proved to be more of a learning curve due to the fact we made a separate ‘non-anime’ category.
Our show is limited to 2 hours and to select a combination of both anime and ‘non-anime’ submissions meant we had to downsize from our previous ‘Top 10’ of years prior, to ‘Top 5’ in each category.
Doing so still allows us to fill the show with the correct amount of videos, however it pains us because there are also some great videos in the lower half of the ‘Top 10’.
Next year will request to have our show time extended from 2 hours, to 2 hours and 30min’s (or maybe even 3 hours) to showcase more videos and return to the ‘Top 10’ for each category, plus judging by the amount of ‘non-anime’ submissions we received this year we can expect it to increase as more other events are allowing for those kinds of submissions as well.

Since the server had moved and upgraded we’ve been experience some unreliability with our cable modem and some of the php settings on the sever. We had the cable modem replaced and the php modded to what it was previously, Everything should be in working order.
