October 2, 2014 – Southwest Animation & Gaming Expo has been Canceled – Official Statement

October 2, 2014

Greetings,

I want to thank everyone for their input and suggestions during these past months on how to move forward with Southwest Animation & Gaming Expo. I know some of you had been really hoping that we would be able to come through and make this event happen; but it’s with great sadness that I must say that at of this very moment, Southwest Animation & Gaming Expo has been officially canceled and has been closed for business.

While we did have various options to keep the show alive, such as handing the show to another organization or even crowd-funding. Most discussions fell through and I could not in good conscience tie up other peoples finances in crowd-funding as other con’s have attempted to do that and have failed or mis-used the finances.

One of the biggest questions that I know some of you will ask.

Will the people who pre-reg get their finances back?

Yes. The people who pre-registered will get their finances back. While it may not be immediately, I will estimate that most, if not all the people who pre-registered will receive their finances back in about 90 days.

So what now?

Life goes on. I do want to say that this has been an experience like no other, and not in a bad way. During our time out and about, the Expo had really positive responses and feedback. I really want sincerely to thank those who have supported our efforts and helped along with us.

I do like to say that this has been a learning experience for not just me, but for everyone who is or has been apart of the staff.

I will say even though SWAG Expo is done and gone, there is still a drive for me to create an event, while not as large as SWAG Expo. I may plan on the future for a animation show under the AnimeFunTV.com banner, but only time will tell.

Until then, Thank you everyone for your generosity and support.
